Don’t worry if you find it hard to decide where to go, we’ll be on hand to help you plan your itinerary.

The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier TOP OF SALZBURG

During the summertime the Kitzsteinhorn glacier becomes a true world of beauty and adventure. An array of highlights awaits you when you just step on board the cable-car and ascend to a majestic 3,000 metres above sea-level. TOP OF SALZBURG is the name of Salzburgerlands highest alpine viewing platform, access to which is made via a mountain passage containing the National Park Gallery. This is a great way to find out all about the world of mountains, the glacier and surrounding nature before stepping out to take in the beautiful view. The glacier in summertime also offers the chance to go and have some fun in the snow or how about a cool refreshing drink in the Snowbar. Alternatively why not head for the valley for some mountain-biking or hiking with your very own guide through the breathtaking nature of the Hohe Tauern National Park.

    Großglockner Hochalpenstraße Großglockner Transalpine Route

This legendary gateway to the Hohe Tauern National Park is literally on the doorstep to Zell am See. The opening of the Großglockner alpine route in the early 20th century represents a true milestone in engineering, an achievement that still inspires to this very day. The 48 km long road brings you from Fusch on Großglocknerstrasse over to the Franz-Josef-Höhe pass where you can take in the beauty of the highest summits in the region as well as its glacier, the Pasterze. The endless number of curves, bends and steep climbs makes the Großglockner alpine road a big favourite with motorbike and cycling enthusiasts. Mountain climbers and hikers also avail of this alpine road to access the numerous trails and paths the Hohe Tauern National Park has to offer.

    Mountain Reservoir Kaprun

High above the valley, overlooking the picturesque town of Kaprun, a truly amazing feat of technical and structural engineering awaits your visit ….the Hochgebirgsstauseen (the alpine mountain reservoir-dams). These two magnificent structures were constructed at the end of second world war in the face of tremendously complex technical challenges and difficulties. The dams hold back an enormous amount of stored water in order to provide a rich and reliable source of hydro-electricity from the surrounding mountains. A walk around the reservoirs will treat you to a magical combination of engineering, nature and science. Getting to the dams involves a bus ride, which includes taking one of the worlds steepest elevator lifts so that in itself is an adventure! Once your bus drops you off you can go hiking, mountain touring, climbing, walking or just take the family for a truly unique day out.

    Krimml Waterfalls

These waterfalls are famous around the world. They are loved for the awe inspiring beauty created by the tons of water falling into the Oberpinzgau valley from the Krimml range above. The Krimml waterfalls are also famous for the wonderfully positive effects they can have on one’s health, particularly on the respiratory system. For that reason health enthusiasts from all over the world visit the waterfalls each year. The landscape surrounding the Krimml waterfalls also works its magic in appealing to your sense of well-being. The crystal clear water runs from the glaciers through the upper valleys to fall over a series of ledges into the valley creating one of Mother Natures most wonderful waterfalls in all of Europe. The nature found around the falls is equally amazing and is truly worth the visit. Tip; Take your bike or e-bike on the local valley train ‘the Pinzgau-Bahn’ for a beautifully relaxing trip to the Krimml Waterfalls and bike it back along the Tauernradweg to Zell am See at your own pace and stop along the way!
