    Project Description

Swimming, Sailing, Surfing, Stand-Up Paddling on the Zeller Lake in Zell am See-Kaprun

Coming down the mountain you are so looking forward to the cool crystal clear water of the Zeller lake. You haven’t been able to take your eye off its alluringly beautiful blue waters as you descend the side of the Schmittenhöhe … it’s just paradise. It’s summertime and the temperatures are up there as is the temperature of the lake water itself. The lake is calling you and waiting for you to take that first exhilarating plunge into the water. There are several bathing and swimming pools around the lake just waiting to invite you for a day of water fun and relaxation. Additionally you will find a variety of Funsport-Centres offering a range of water sport activities including Sailing, Wind-Surfing, Kayaking and the very trendy Stand-Up Paddling.

    It was always there…

The Zeller Lake has been around for a very long time, long before Pinzgau, Salzburg or Austria – the formation of the lake goes way back to over 10,000 years ago to when the Ice-Age was retreating. Today the 4.55 square kilometer lake is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Salzburgerland. The lake water temperatures in the summer can reach a wonderfully pleasant 23 degrees providing fantastic opportunity for swimming and relaxation. There are several heated outdoor swimming pools around the lake so you can enjoy the fun of the water even in early summer and autumn. The areas around the lake have benefited from its Nature-Conservation status dating back to the mid-70s yielding an abundance of flora and fauna to enjoy today. Fauna includes a wide range of animals including deer, otter, fox, frogs, toads and a variety of fish and birdlife.

    Water Sports & Fun

Whether you just want to relax around the pool or you’re a water-baby who loves to splash around in the water, the three outdoor swimming pools located at Zell am See, Thumersbach and Schuttdorf has something ideally suited for you. The pools are heated and the sun-bathing areas are large, offering the choice to lie in the sun or catch some shade. Looking for a bit more action? Then why not take to wind-surfing, sailing or paddle-boating. Motor or Speedboats are not allowed on the lake, the only exception being the water-rescue service and the locally authorized water ski-schools….so water-skiing is also on offer at the Zell am See lake. Stand-Up Paddling is pretty popular and a great way to explore the lake while getting some exercise and if you want to try something even more different, how about giving Stand-Up Paddling & Yoga a go!

    Paddle boat or Sailing

Whether on a romantic getaway or family holiday, a stay in Zell am See-Kaprun would not be complete without taking to the water in a boat of some kind or on a paddle/surf board. Harry Vettermann’s sailing and surf school rents out rowing, paddle and sailing boats. That’s in addition to windsurfing equipment and 2 or 3 day introductory classes.
