Skiing in Spring!

Spring is near and most of us think that the skiing season 2016/17 is already over. But winter is definitely not over yet. And one of the most beautiful days up on the mountain are about to happen in march.

Why skiing in spring is so amazing? Mainly we could say because of the great weather conditions. Of course the sun is changing the snow conditions, but throughout the whole season so called “firnsnow” or also spring snow gets built by the sun, which is also great for skiing or snowboarding. For all those who don’t know what spring snow is, here a short explanation:

So called “firnsnow” or spring snow is snow, which is nearly a year on the mountain that changes because of the warm temperatures on the day and the minus degrees over nigh. The pressed snow offers a hard and handy slope. Spring snow underneath the “newer” snow is also very good for skiing in terrains, because you don’t break through so easy. Spring snow is very hard in the morning, so the sun can shine the whole day and the slope is still perfectly “soft” for racing down.

Beside the great conditions of the snow you should spend your free time on the mountain and enjoy the spring sun and recharge your batteries with a great meal and one or two drinks with your friends and family.

Our hotel Grüner Baum is again offering you, from march until the end of april, our 3 days snow okay package, which is quite perfect for a long spring skiing weekend in Zell am See. Starting from € 299,- you’ll get half board, a lift pass in Zell am See and Kaprun, reduction on the skiing service and rental and much more.
