Enjoyment & Culinary
at the Hotel & Restaurant Grüner Baum

Culinary highlights at the Hotel Grüner Baum in Zell am See

Anyone strolling through the pedestrian zone of Zell am See will inevitably be drawn to our hotel, restaurant and guest garden, all of which have been family-owned for many generations - unmissable and always worth a visit. It attracts locals and guests alike, not least because of its down-to-earth cuisine.

Focus on tradition and regionality

Regionality is a top priority at the Grüner Baum restaurant. The restaurant's cuisine is deeply rooted in Pinzgau tradition and focuses on craftsmanship that has been passed down from generation to generation. The origin of many dishes lies in the in-house butcher's shop, where fresh meat and sausage specialities are produced. These are refined in the kitchen into culinary masterpieces that not only impress with their flavour, but also with their authenticity.

A feast for the senses

The restaurant's menu features numerous regional delicacies and specialities that showcase the best of Pinzgau cuisine. Whether it's a juicy piece of meat from our own butcher's shop or traditional dishes such as WIENER SCHNITZEL, Pinzgauer Kasnocken im Pfandl, a crispy fried chicken salad or Tyrolean Schlutzkrapfen refined with a modern twist - every gourmet will get their money's worth here. The quality of the ingredients and the loving preparation make every dish an experience.

Hospitality that comes from the heart

What makes a visit to the Grüner Baum restaurant special is not just the food itself, but also the way in which it is served. The restaurant's long-standing staff put their heart and soul into their work and make every guest feel welcome with their friendly smiles and courteous manner. This genuine Pinzgau hospitality is appreciated by guests as much as by the locals who enjoy stopping off at the Grüner Baum.

The grand finale

After a the meal, a schnapps is of course a must. The selection at our hotel & restaurant is impressive: Karl Halbmayr senior, brandy and cider sommelier from St. Valentin in Lower Austria, provides us with an exquisite selection of brandies, liqueurs, musts and fruit juices. Many of these delicacies have already won several awards and offer the perfect end to a cosy evening.

A tasting is not only recommended, but almost a must for every guest who wants to get to know the fine nuances of the local schnapps culture.

🥂 DISCOVER the distillery 🥂

This time we are taking you from Salzburger Land to the heart of Austria, the Mostviertel. In addition to charming villages and the gently rolling hills south of the Danube, you will also find the wild and romantic mountain world around the Ötscher, Hochkar, Dürrenstein and Gippel. And as the name MOSTVIERTEL suggests, it is also known for a centuries-old and traditional craft: cider and brandy production.

Senior boss Karl Halbmayr has been passionately producing high-quality musts, brandies, liqueurs and juices on his idyllic square farm in St. Valentin for more than 25 years. The art of distillation has been cultivated and practised there for several generations.

"I see my interest in the production of cider, brandies and juice as a challenge to produce high-quality, regional products and to recognise the individual flavours." Karl Halbmayr, brandy and cider sommelier
